And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.” Luke 1:60–61 (KJV)

Holding onto tradition without considering the changing times leads to stagnation. The relatives of Zachariah and Elizabeth wanted to follow tradition in the naming of their son after his father, but little did they know that God had a new name for him. He was named John as God had ordained. Dear beloved, the God we serve is not an antiquated personality; He is infinite and continually does new things every day. It is up to us to embrace Him for who He is and to prepare to receive new things from Him. Remember that He set aside the old covenant and created a new one (Hebrews 8:13). If what you want Him to do for you has never been done for anybody before, He is still capable of doing it for you. Prepare your heart and mind for the new things God wants to do in your life, and you will be moving from glory to glory. Hallelujah! Be An Overcomer!
