God's Gift

For [as a believer] you have been called for this purpose, since Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you may follow in His footsteps. 1 Peter 2:21

To imitate simply means learning to do an act from seeing it done. It is the behavior of observing and replicating another’s character and essence. The Greek word used in Ephesians 5.2 is “mimetos”, imitation: one who uses someone as a mode, imitates, emulates, and follows. Jesus plainly said that he imitates the father, “So Jesus answered them by saying, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself [of His own accord], unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever things the Father does, the Son [in His turn] also does in the same way.” (John 5:19)

The apostles so imitated Jesus that in Antioch they were called Christ like. And when he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. For an entire year they met [with others] in the church and instructed large numbers; and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians. Acts 11:26 Our actions and conduct in the society is our trade-name which may sometime differ from our registered name. But differently, we can confess our faith, but if our actions negate our confession, then we are living a double standard life. The people we are meant to disciple will judge us by our relationship and lifestyle and not by our confession.

In this generation the world system has provided people with a lot of people to imitate. Youths imitate all kinds of nonsense from the entertainment industry. Boys are walking around the street with their trousers falling off their waist and they call it sagging. Girls are walking around naked. Our women are imitating Hollywood marriages. These negative imitations are wrong, the only person we are to imitate is the role model our heavenly Father has given us, Jesus Christ. He said to His disciples “if you have seen me, you have seen the Father.” We are to disciple the world not the other way around. The next time you want to do something, ask yourself “would this represent God?”

Jesus Christ is my model in life and the Bible is my manual in all facets of Life. Both are my standard and I shall replicate the life of Christ based on the standards in the Bible and become a worthy reference for men to see and give God glory.

Dear Lord, I want to be like you, help me to talk like you, walk like and act like you in all I do for your name sake. Help me to renew my mind and change every negative influence that I have adopted that does not give you glory. I want to be your representative here on earth for men to emulate.Amen

Who giveth us richly all things to enjoy. — 1 Timothy 6:17 Our Lord Jesus is ever giving, and does not for a solitary instant withdraw his hand. As long as there is a vessel of grace not yet full to the brim, the oil shall not be stayed. He […]
